What is LASER Spider Vein Treatment?
It is the elimination of small visible veins with LASER technology. It might require 3 to 6 sessions depending on the severity of the spider veins.
How and where is the procedure done?
The procedure is done in our office. It is done under no anesthesia. The duration of the procedure is about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the extend of the affected areas. It is done as an outpatient procedure.
What is the difference between LASER and sclerotherapy?
Laser Spider Veins is done with Laser technology. This Light therapy is directed to the hemoglobin contained within the vessels, which is a very accurate way of addressing the problem.
Sclerotherapy, is the injection of a very concentrated solution (Dextrose 50) with in the lumen of the small vein. The concentrated solution will burn the vessel walls and promote its collapse. The disadvantage is that its accuracy is less predictable. Also, if the solution collects outside the vessels, it might damage the surrounding tissues.
